Welcome to the Association!

With over 138,000 members, Intermountain Rural Electric Association is one of the largest and fastest-growing of more than 900 member-owned electric distribution cooperatives in the United States. Since there are no stockholders, monies earned by the cooperative are returned to members via capital credit refund checks.

IREA's 5,000-square-mile service territory includes all or parts of ten counties to the east, west and south of the metro Denver area and west of Colorado Springs. Our headquarters (see photo) is located in Sedalia, Colorado, south of Littleton and north of Castle Rock. We also have district offices in Strasburg, Conifer and Woodland Park.

IREA Legislative Success! HB-1098 stripped of unnecessary, costly and damaging provisions

Thanks to your help, the most unnecessary, costly and damaging provisions of the bill were stripped out, while most of what remains is already included in our bylaws and procedures. The Board of Directors,
with the exception of Mike Kempe (District #1) who voted against the resolution, passed a resolution to oppose House Bill 10-1098 which attempted to interfere with director elections at rural electric associations. (more)
